Paul is a Chartered Engineer with over 35 years’ experience in IT. He has spent 20 of those designing and developing enterprise systems in sectors such as Energy & Utilities, Government, Criminal Justice and Health.

He has been involved in Systems Safety for 15 years in a variety of capacities including safety engineering, safety management, independent auditing and corporate governance and assurance. Paul's most recent work involves safety engineering of future satellite data links for air traffic communications and satellite based remotely piloted aircraft systems.

As one of the directors of the Safety-Critical Systems Club (SCSC) he is active in championing systems safety in the wider community and contributes to a number of industry working groups developing new standards for data safety, the integration of safety and security practices and developing ontological models to better formalise the language of risk.

He has published a number of articles and papers and is a frequent presenter at industry seminars and symposiums. In 2019 Paul joined the SCSC Steering Group and Executive Committee and is the SCSC Newsletter Editor and SCSC Web Master.
